Originally born in France, I migrated to Australia in 1996 to the big smoke of Sydney. Cairns, and more precisely Palm Cove, was my favourite holiday destination for years and I loved it so much so we decided to move here permanently.
We arrived in beautiful Tropical North Queensland in 2004. I had the pleasure of working in hospitality in a five star Palm Cove resort for 4 years before joining the 'Cairns Holiday Specialists' team in 2012.
What I like the most about the Cairns region is the diversity of nature, from the reef to the rainforest including the outback, we have it all. The Cairns region is big enough and has everything you need but has also kept that friendly atmosphere smaller places have.
Personal Interests: reading in French and English, my friends, dogs oh and I do not mind a good Aussie wine or two with good company.
Tanith Barrie Destination Specialists
A bit of a gypsy and sufferer of itchy feet, I was born in NSW, grew up in Darwin and then moved to Cairns when I was 16.
I enjoy the sunshine & the outdoors and on any given day off I can be found out and about enjoying the things that make Cairns great - swimming, bush walking, bike riding, skate boarding along the Esplanade or enjoying a cold beer:-)
I have come and gone and traveled all over Australia but I always find myself returning to Cairns - it really is the best place to live and Tropical North Queensland is my home. As a single mum of one, I have definitely decided this is the place for my son to finish his school years and grow up in paradise like I did.
I have worked in the tourism industry in a number of roles from hotel bar work and hotel accommodation receptionist, to working on fishing boats in the Northern Territory and on cattle properties in the Northern Territory, Queensland and New South Wales. I worked in retail hardware sales for a while before really exploring more roles in the travel industry.
Even when based as a travel agent with a large firm in Brisbane, I would find myself using Cairns as the number one recommended destination for those people who were wanting that tropical holiday within Australia. There is no comparison for all that is on offer here and now I find myself at the Cairns Holiday Specialists talking on a daily basis to people who have returned several times and are still surprised to hear about different experiences they hadn't heard of or even considered before. It's fantastic when people return home from their holiday - only to be right on the phone to book their next trip.
At the Cairns Holiday Specialists we really do add that personal touch in finding the best holiday experience for each and every guest. We all live here because we love it and we get to see and do all of these attractions everyday of the year and we love to brag about it to our guests.
It's great to be a part of a passionate, successful, destination specialists travel team.

I travelled to Australia for the first time in 1990/91 and this is when I fell in love with this beautiful continent. My husband and I moved permanently from Germany to Australia in 2005.
We chose to settle in Cairns Queensland Australia because we simply love it; Cairns is not only a nice city surrounded by rainforest but it is also the closest city to the world famous Great Barrier Reef. We travelled through Australia but we found Cairns is the best place, small but not too small, there is everything you need (except ALDI).
There is so much to see and so much to do in the Cairns region! I absolutely love snorkelling and scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef, walking on the sea floor, exploring the rainforest, driving through the beautiful Atherton Tablelands, horse riding, white water rafting on the Barron river, Ballooning, Bungy Jumping or Skydiving – I am proud to say I have done it all.
I feel so lucky to live and work in such a wonderful place, others choose for their vacations.
My background is in tourism and hospitality and I am also a trained travel agent consultant. I have been working in the tourism industry for over 8 years and I love my job as a Cairns Tour Specialist. It makes me happy when guests come back and tell me about the wonderful tours and activities we planned for them.

I was born in Cairns and grew up in the Northern Beaches of Cairns at Trinity Beach. I was raised by a family who just loved the outdoor lifestyle consistent with most people who are drawn to Tropical Far North Queensland in Australia.
I left Cairns 20 years ago for Brisbane and then Sydney to experience the big “City” life.
Yearly visits back home to catch up with family and friends in Cairns left me with limited time to visit the local tours & attractions that lure people to the Tropical North & the Great Barrier Reef. When I met my husband to be, I wanted to show him where I grew up, all the spectacular scenery, the beaches, the freshwater swimming holes, the ancient Rainforest and of course, the Great Barrier Reef.
We exchanged vows at one of the most picturesque places of the Tropical North…Palm Cove. Our reception was held under the coconut trees that line the beach front and we honeymooned at Fitzroy Island, another one of my favourite destinations.
It was at this time when the thought was planted….”I could live up here!“ my husband said. “How could you have left a place as spectacular as this?”
He gave me the wake up call. The chilled back lifestyle, the sound of the coconut palm fronds rippling in the breeze and the waves gently lapping the beach….I missed these simple yet natural blessings living in a busy city.
Not even a year had passed before we relocated back to my home city of Cairns. There are so many amazing places I wanted to re-visit and experience… It took quite a few years to return… but I am back in this Paradise and there are plenty of great reasons why!
After working in the wholesale side of cruise holidays in Brisbane, I am now really enjoying being in a role where I am assisting our guests plan their perfect holidays not only on a professional level but a personal level as well. We get to know each and every one of our guests and their travelling companions and they entrust us to plan their tours and attractions to suit their specific needs and budgets because no one knows our back yard better than us!
We deal with guests from all countries and nationalities so we are sensitive on cultural issues. We also have a great deal of experience in dealing with guests who may have disabilities and we have a raft of tours that enable these guests to enjoy our region just as much as able bodied tourists.
We are here 7 days a week ready to speak to you on the phone, Skype, chat or email so please give us a call and we will be more than happy to assist you build the ultimate holiday you have been dreaming about because we are the Cairns & Great Barrier Reef Destination Specialists.

After traveling around Australia with my family in 1995 in search of a new place to put down roots, we stumbled upon the quaint little ‘hippie village’ Kuranda. We fell in love with the area right away and all agreed that this is utopian paradise was the place where we wanted to live.
Coming from Melbourne we soon realised that Cairns stayed perpetually warm, so that meant no more coats, scarfs and boots, instead we could wear our summer clothes all year round. Eighteen years later and I am still here! Cairns is my home and I think it is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Surrounded by Tropical World Heritage Rainforest and lined with the Great Barrier Reef, two of the natural wonders of the world at our door step - what more could I ask for?
After completing High School I moved to the Gold Coast and studied Tourism. I soon learned from my studies that the tourism hotspot was Cairns, so I packed my bags and moved back to my hometown to immerse myself in the regions beautiful tourist attractions. I worked my way through a few tourism companies including, Blazing saddles as a Lead Horse Tour Guide and a local Palm Cove resort working in tour desk. I am now at the end of my tourism degree here at Cairns James Cook University and I am already putting my knowledge to practice as a tour desk consultant with the Cairns Tour Specialists. I absolutely LOVE my job, as helping people plan their holiday is something I am very passionate about, especially in such a stunning place.
Annie Fishburn Accounts Manager
Annie grew up in Sydney and made the smart move to sunny Cairns in 1995.
Between 1995 and 2008 Annie was the General Manager for a Cairns based horse riding tourism company and Regional Manager for a major tourist transport company operating in the Cairns and Port Douglas region.
Annie joined The Tour Specialists and The Cairns Holiday Specialists team in early 2009. For fun she runs a dog training school after hours helping owners control their rambunctious pets or sometimes the other way around stopping the pets from controlling their rambunctious owners.
Annie lives on acreage and has a menagerie of barnyard friends along with 3 dogs, 2 horses, kangaroos, wallabies and other Australian wildlife to keep her really busy.
Annie has also recently shown the rest of us up in the office and started training to compete in triathlons. Oh and by the way her first one she entered she was the first in her age group!
Oh and thankfully she is really good at maths and business management!
Belinda Mathews Reservations Supervisor
I was born in Bridport Tasmania and migrated to Cairns over 20 years ago with family to escape the cold for the balmy lifestyle of Tropical North Queensland.
My first position in tourism was in 2005 at the Angsana Resort & Spa Palm Cove where I was initially based in hotel reception and then progressed into Reservation Sales shortly after. As I had been at the resort for 5 years it was time to move on and progress in my career and along came the opportunity to join the team at Cairns Holiday Specialists. Lucky for me this company was also based in beautiful Palm Cove!
I have been with The Cairns Holiday Specialists for 6 years now and still loving it! I enjoy helping our guests find the perfect accommodation and tours for their dream holiday and then meeting them once they arrive. It's a real sense of achievement when you can meet your clients face to face when they take the time to come and seek you out and personally thank you for planning their holiday.
It's also great hearing about how beautiful our backyard is and how amazing our tours and attractions are, because as locals we often take for granted what we see and experience every single day.
Thank you to all of our guests for giving us the nudge and reminding us of how lucky we really are to actually live here full time!
Christina James Managing Director
I have been lucky enough to have worked in the tourism and hospitality industry in sales and marketing for over 22 years all across Australia promoting this great country to not only Australians but also visitors from around the world. When I attend travel shows and expos I get to meet potential guests before they actually make the decision to come to Cairns and Tropical North Queensland for a holiday which assists us to put experiences together that suit their needs and ultimately attracts them to come and book a holiday with us.
The customer survey forms we receive from our guests after they travel are real testimonials to the attention to detail and effort that our team put into ensuring they plan the most memorable holiday for our guests. Our company philosophy is "It's not just a holiday it's a lifetime experience"!
Personally I am a real greenie and at one stage in my very early life I spent some time living in the Daintree and Cape Tribulation Rainforests in a humpie learning about our fragile eco system, the endangered rainforest and the endangered wild life that it supports on a symbiotic relationship.
To this day I am still a wildlife warrior and protector of rainforests and I try and shop for organic products that do not harm our planet.
I try to stay fit and healthy by going to the gym and joining the odd hike up along the local mountains and gorges but it is very hard to do so as the tourism industry here in Cairns is very social and lot's of our guests and family and friends are always coming for a visit and to share a meal in some our favourite local restaurants.
Oh and they do not come to our house as I am not a very good cook!

Originally from a little cold country Estonia, I inevitably fell in love with Cairns 6 years ago when visiting my husband’s family.
After discovering endless hiking and mountain bike tracks in the rainforest it started to feel like home.
Cairns has got everything I could ever wish for- sunshine, rainforest, reef, great restaurants and an International Airport.
Cairns is also traffic jam free and you can spend all 365 days outdoors!
My first job in Cairns was at a local dive shop working as a reservations agent. I just loved to meet visitors from all over the world coming here for holidays and helping to make sure that they left with great memories of Cairns and the amazing Great Barrier Reef.
On my days off from working at The Tour Specialists you will most likely find me in the rainforest mountain biking or hiking, alternatively driving up or down the coast and stopping at the quirky little local cafes and basically just enjoying the fantastic weather.
I am the kind of person who is genuinely happy to help you out if you are looking for an awesome Great Barrier Reef tour, rainforest tours or even a hiking trail or information where to hire a proper mountain bike for your adventures.
I even helped to find the perfect spot for a bunch of professional photographers during the solar eclipse and got rewarded with some pretty spectacular shots from the event!
As I am also a certified scuba diver I can give you some of the best advice and tips on the some fantastic dive locations and help you to explore the magical depths of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.
There is so much to see and do in and around Cairns my advice is just make sure you have booked your holiday for 10 days or longer as you will kick yourself if you do not get to at least experience some of the things on offer up here in Mother Nature’s garden of Eden.
You can catch me at The Tour Specialists office at the Hilton Hotel in Cairns.
