2013 Cairns Amateurs Horse Racing Carnival – 6th and 7th September 2013

Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s time to dust of those top hats and fascinators and get frocked up! Cairns’ biggest horse racing carnival is only days away!
The annual Cairns Amateurs Horse Racing Carnival is 4 days of fun and festivities including 2 days of horse racing. The carnival is held every year in early September during the spring racing carnival.
The Cairns racing carnival was first held in 1959 and allowed both the City and Country residents to come together. Over the years the “Cairns Amateurs” has developed into one of the country’s most prestigious horse racing carnivals and horse racing enthusiasts, punters, owners and trainers come from all over Australia and New Zealand to join in on the week long Amateurs festivities.
Throughout the 4 days, a range of informal and formal social events and activities are held throughout the city of Cairns including the Ladies Fashion High Tea, Cairns Amateurs Ball, Ladies Day/Corporate Day (Race Day) and the main event, the Cairns Amateurs Cup Day (Race Day).
Itinerary:
Ladies Fashion High Tea
When: Thursday 5th September, 9:00am
Where: Cannon Park Race Course
Cost: $90.00pp
Details: fashion parades, local & national fashion labels, hair shows, traditional high tea delicacies, leaf tea, coffee and champagne throughout event, premium cash bar, air-conditioned marquee.
Reef Hotel Casino Presidents Welcome Party:
When: Thursday 5th September, 6:00pm
Where: Reef Hotel Casino – Roof Deck
Cost: $55.00pp
Details: the presidents Welcome Cocktail Party is the traditional opening event of the Cairns Amateurs for members and sponsors and is the only exclusive VIP event of the entire carnival. The purpose of the event is for members and sponsors to catch up and meet each other.
Ladies Day (Corporate Day):
When: Friday 6th September, 11am
Where: Cannon Park Race Course
Cost: General Admission – $30.00pp adults & $15.00pp pensioners

Details: an action packed seven race programme including the Reef Hotel Casino’s Governor’s Trophy. Other events on the day at the race track include; The Garden Party, Party in the paddock and the corporate networking area, Fashions on the field TAB and bookies punting facilities.
Cairns Amateurs Ball:
When: Friday 6th September, 6:30pm
Where: Cairns Esplanade Lagoon
Cost: $250pp
Details: the pinnacle of the Amateurs Carnival: premium seafood buffet, dance floor over the water, live music, fireworks display. Dress code is strictly black tie.
Cairns Amateurs Cup Day:
When: Saturday 7th September, 11am
Where: Cannon Park Race Course
Cost: General Admission – $30.00pp Adults $15.00pp Pensioners

Details: the locals favourite day! A seven race programme, fashions on the field, cash bars, TAB and bookies punting facilities.
