Body Mind and Harmony day

On Sunday the 22nd of September the ‘Body, Mind and Harmony day’ will be held on the Palm Cove Esplanade. It is a family friendly day that celebrates the United Nations international day of peace.

The event is free and will be held between 9am to 4pm. It’s a fantastic day packed with activities and markets stalls including massage, reflexology, bowen therapy, natural health and eco-friendly products. There will also be live music including performances from ‘Greg Govinda’, ‘Astrid Elika’ (Harpist) and singer songwriter ‘Bec Drollinger’. Some market holders have donated items to the Random Acts of Kindness Angel who be giving these items out randomly throughout the day.

There will be many events including the lighting on the world peace flame that will take place at the beginning of the day as the opening ceremony. The first world peace flame started in 1999 and today the flames continue to burn in thousands of homes, schools workplaces, hospitals and places of worship around the world.

The Global Mala Yoga for peace will be led by 9 certified yoga teachers from 9-12pm and will consist of 108 rounds of the Sun Salutation! Everyone is encouraged to bring a yoga mat and join in.  The Mala is also a world-wide event and is to support the international day of peace.  Each yoga master will take 12 rounds of the Sun Salutation.

At 3pm all are invited to join on in the people peace sign which will be held on the beach where there will be a photographer doing an aerial flight especially to catch the peace sign from above!   Once the people peace sign is formed ‘Renee Cashman’ will lead a silent minute whilst playing her large moon gong to signal the start of this. The silent minute was introduced in World War 2 in England and continues to this very day. People were asked to devote one minute of their time every day for peace and the local radio station would play the bells of Big Ben to signal the start of the silent minute.
