Christmas & School Holidays – Tips & Hints on Holiday Travel

Christmas is a funny time of year. Everyone runs around shopping centres buying gifts for friends families, neighbours, the garbage truck driver, the postman and everyone they can think of that they have dealt within the year that may have made a difference to their lives in some small way or another.

People begin to actually stop and think and write lists of whom they should buy a Christmas present for and then they try and think what to buy those people. The well organised Christmas shopper begins the next years shopping on Boxing Day and every other major sales day a shopping centre promotes thru the whole year saving themselves probably hundreds if not thousands of dollars and more importantly a lot less stress and pressure of going to the shopping centres, fighting for a car park, waiting in the long queues at the checkouts, being bumped around and having to deal with crying children in prams that just want to go to the park and play.

Get Organised For the School Holidays

These organised Christmas shoppers are the ones that normally go off and have a really nice holiday with family and friends over the Xmas break as they have no shopping to worry about at all. They just need to buy themselves some holiday clothes, pack their bags and go off and enjoy the festive season in whatever location they have decided to spend the holidays and who with.

The organised Christmas shopper is normally also the organised holiday maker and they book their next holiday immediately after the last one to ensure they get the type of room, type of hotel or resort in the exact location they desire so there is no possibility of missing out due to a special event taking up all the hotels rooms or anything else.

Book Your Hotel- Resort- Holiday Apartment Early

As we all know you will never find a hotel or resort promoting a special discounted rate over any major holiday seasons like Christmas, Easter or any school holidays as these are the only times of the year the hotels have strong demand so they are able to yield better rates of return for their investors. If the hotels do reduce rates and have special offers that are too good to be true then they probably are too god to be true so make sure you look into the reason the hotel or resort is offering any big discounts.

When booking your holiday please also be aware that there may be a minimum number of nights stay over special periods and special events again as the resort has to maximize the occupancy whenever it can.

Danger Do Not Try On The Resort You Will Lose!

If you are thinking of trying to book over an event period and have in your mind that you will just check out of the hotel and get a refund then you will be sadly mistaken as a hotel will charge you the full amount for the length of stay booked and no matter how much you jump up and down you will not get a refund for your room nights because you booked that resort with full knowledge it was over a special event and that you were also given the terms and conditions with your travel documents.

As a traveling adult (18 years and over) you are fully responsible for yourselves and it is your job to read all terms and conditions of anything that you purchase and that also applies for airline tickets, holiday accommodation and any tours and attractions you may have booked.

Holiday Tours and Attractions  

The funny thing about tours and attractions is that you will rarely if ever see them discounted like you do with hotel rooms and package holidays so you can safely research the one’s that suit you and your fellow travelling companions thru ought the year and then book the ones that you all agree you would like to experience together.

Booking your tour or attraction early is the advice we as holiday planners give our guests if they are travelling over public holidays, school holidays and any special event periods that may be on during the time of requested travel to ensure the holiday maker does not miss out on their preferred tours.

Rental Car-Car Hire Over School Holidays  

As with resort rooms and day tours we also suggest you pre-book your rental car as we hear of so many guests being frustrated with not being able to just fly into the Cairns domestic or International Airport and rent a car as soon as they land so again pre-book your rental car whilst you are booking your holiday so you can just arrive at the airport and begin your pre-planned, pre-booked holiday and start to breath and relax on the beach or beside the swimming pool in your Cairns Resort.
