Nautilus and Cairns’ longest established helicopter company Cape York Helicopters entered into a contract on the 2^nd of September 2014 with the intent of Nautilus buying the far northern aviation company. This will expand the Nautilus Fleet to 22 aircrafts that will now operate in Far North Queensland regions from Townsville to Cape York providing a huge array of services including luxury scenic flights and transfers, corporate, photography, utility charters and search and rescue operations. Their vastly expanding aircraft fleet contains aircrafts that specialise in the above listed services, sizes range from the 3 passenger seater Robinson 44 with unobstructed passenger views to the 7 passenger seater Eurocopter EC 130 which is the quietest in its class.

Nautilus Aviation is a privately owned helicopter charter company operating since 1988, a division of the Colonial Leisure Group that owns a range of hospitality venues across Australia. Obtaining the Cape York operation will see Nautilus as one of the largest helicopter operators in Queensland. Cape York helicopters expands its flights from within Australia to Daru Island in Papua New Guinea departing Horn Island in the Torres Straits, Nautilus will continue this current approved international voyage.
