7 Years Of Hard Labour…

…And long service for well known Cairns tourism Lady!

On Saturday 28^th September 2013 Mrs Colleen Were racked up 7 years of service with the Cairns Holiday Specialists located in their beachfront offices in beautiful Palm Cove Australia.

Colleen joined the company in September 2006 as the Conferences Incentives and Accommodation Manager with the plan to create a new Conference Division within the company which at the time was known as The Tour Specialists.

Our first office which is still the current location of The Tour Specialists in Palm Cove had five of us jammed in side by side on a desk no longer than 4 metres long so none of us had anything we could hide from each other that was for sure!

We all beavered away and the plan and idea took off with quite a lot of blood sweat and quite a few tears now and again from not only Colleen but all of us involved in building the company.

Things seemed to be going swimmingly well (despite the horrific worldwide economic conditions year upon year upon year) so we pushed forward and set up a new company called the Cairns Holiday Specialists and moved to larger premises firstly in the Clifton Village Shopping Centre and then back to a bigger office in the Palm Cove Village which sat above the current office of the Information Centre of The Tour Specialists on Williams Esplanade.

The Tour Specialists and the Cairns Holiday Specialists were one of the first local companies to embrace the power of Google and realise the potential of the internet to attract visitors to the region so Colleen and the team spent day and night busily writing up hundreds of pages of travel and holiday information for the companies websites and gathering stunning images of the surrounding Cairns regions so that we could climb thru Google and get potential visitors attention.

Once Colleen got those potential visitors on the end of the telephone they were sold, booked and credit card scraped!

She had such passion about Cairns as a destination the customers could not help but get wrapped up in the idea of the perfect tropical holiday picture that Colleen had painted.

The Conference Division was going quite well but had to take a back seat to the incoming enquiries from guests looking for holiday packages which were coming in thick and fast. Colleen had to recruit new team members for the reservations department to help cope with the demand and to allow her to look after her conference department.

All of the above commitment from Colleen and her team is history now and Cairns Holiday Specialists has grown to be recognised as one of the largest suppliers of accommodation into Cairns and surrounding regions especially Palm Cove as this little beachfront village is Colleen’s favourite place in the world.

Nicholas, myself and the past and present team members of Cairns Holiday Specialists and The Tour Specialists want to congratulate Colleen for such a great job done with enthusiasm, passion, dedication and a hell of a lot of fun along the way (boy can we tell you some stories!) over the last 7 years and we look forward to what is coming around the next corner.
