Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Centre Official Opening – 13th October 2013

Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Centre on Fitzroy Island is holding a soft opening of their facilities on Sunday 13^th October; the centre has been in operation for some time but never had a proper opening.

This is an opportunity to celebrate and thank everyone who helped make the centre a reality, everyone who assisted and donated for such a worthy cause.

Bob Irwin will be speaking at 10:00am and at 11:00am 2 turtles will be released! This is a very exciting time for the centre as it takes a lot of time, effort and donations to rehabilitate and send turtles home.

The turtle’s movements will be monitored and their progress recorded thanks to tracking devices fixed to their shells.

Thank you to Jenny and her team for the wonderful work they do rescuing and rehabilitating our beautiful sea turtles.
