Easter Break in Tropical Far North Queensland – for holiday guests and locals
Posted on April 3, 2014 by Sophie Tabouel
People celebrate Easter according to their beliefs and their religious values. Christians regard Good Friday as the day that Jesus Christ died and Easter Sunday as the day that he was resurrected. Easter is the most significant event of the Christian Calendar. Though, for many Australians the four day Easter weekend marks the end of the summer season and introduces a holiday break which integrates the Easter Bunny, Easter eggs, treasure hunts and family gatherings.

Cairns and Far North Queensland is the home of ‘holidays’. The region is a destination of unspoilt natural beauty, with The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and World Heritage listed Wet Tropics Rainforest, both of which are natural wonders of the world – the destination is truly Gods masterpiece. Cairns and its surrounds have many stunning national and conservational parks, as well as captivating history and indigenous culture. Nestled amongst the coral reefs are some pristine islands and white sand cays. Few people are aware that Cairns is also the gateway to the Australian Outback. The small outback town ‘Chillagoe’ is just three and a half hours drive West of Cairns. The little township is not only known for its ochre red landscapes and scrubby trees; however it also preserves one of the most remarkable underground cave systems. The Undara Lava Tubes, formed by volcanic eruption about 190,000 years ago, and gulf savannah and northern outback are all unique remote wilderness locations that are accessible right from Cairns.

This warm and sunny destination lends its self to a fun and relaxing holiday for the family to get away and spend some quality time together over the Easter break. If relaxing by the pool or beach is your ideal holiday type then Cairns and its surrounds have many different resort facilities that cater for this. The team at the Cairns Holiday Specialists can help you to book your accommodation, in order to get a great price, a beautiful location and a residence that suits you and your family to a tee. The sister team at the Tour Specialists on the other hand, can assist you in planning tours and activities to all the unique attractions in and around the Cairns region that you have always dreamed of visiting.
