Christmas is only 8 days away, that means New Years Eve is only… 14 days away so you had better start thinking about where you are going to be on that auspicious occasion with your loved ones and you had better think about booking some accommodation so you can be close to all fireworks and other festive activities.

Just be aware that most hotels and resorts will have a minimum number of nights you will be required to book for New Years Eve or a much higher than normal room rate and that you had better be quick to lock in your accommodation booking now before all the best rooms have gone if you are planning on getting a view of the actual New Years Eve fireworks display.

We still have availability in a five star resort located on the Esplanade in tropical Palm Cove.

With a minimum stay of 4 nights this would be a great getaway location for New Year Eve.

This property has 3 swimming pools including a sandy lagoon pool, a day spa as well as a fine dining restaurant. The location of this resort allows you to also dine out in one of the numerous restaurants in Palm Cove.

Port Douglas Accommodation suggestions for New Years Eve – QT Port Douglas

QT Port Douglas is waiting for you. Spoil yourself and book either a pool or a garden view room.

New Years Eve In Cairns 2014

For entertainment the city council has engaged some entertainment for the adults with the Rattle N Hum event starting at 6.00pm and ending at 12.00 midnight on the Cairns Esplanade Western Event lawn.

The headlining act Mark Seymour the former front man Hunters and Collectors performing with his current crew of merry men known as the band The Undertow and the night kicks off with some local talented singers who competed on Australia’s Got Talent and a few other talent shows over the last few years.

Other bands and entertainment will be from Frontear and Flavour and fireworks for the kids will go off at 9.00pm then again at midnight for the adults that are still awake.

Fireworks New Years Eve in Palm Cove 2014

As with Port Douglas, the Cairns City council does not provide any funding towards the fireworks on New Years Eve this is always done with the kind contributions of most of the local Palm Cove businesses and so far each year they have been able to do 9.00 firework and then the midnight fireworks.

At present we have not heard any more news for Palm Cove but The Tour Specialists and Cairns Holiday Specialists have made our annual donations to ensure the night goes off with a bang.

New Years Eve in Port Douglas 2014

Like Palm Cove the local businesses pay to put on the New Years Eve Fireworks display and in Port Douglas and the local Chamber of Commerce also contribute to its cost. Dependant on the amount of donations and then splitting it into two shows then the best place to view the fireworks displays would be adjacent to The Combined Club at 8.30pm and at Anzac Park on the Port Douglas foreshore at midnight.

Otherwise get a booking in for a table at Lure Restaurant and Bar at the marina wharf as they are holding their annual white party which will have you partying until 3am

So words of advice book your New Years Eve accommodation now have a great Christmas with family and friends and show some friendship to other less fortunate than you this year and make some donations to charities as your Christmas giving gifts.
