History of the Mother’s Day Classic
Women in Super organize one of Australia’s major fun run and walk events – the Mother’s Day Classic. This rapidly growing popular community event donates all proceeds to breast cancer research. With 135,000 participants nationally, the not-for profit organisation raised 5 million dollars last year and close to 20 million has been raised since it’s inception in 1998. Many walked in support or memory of a loved one. This heart touching event not only attracts individuals and families moved by breast cancer, it also attracts families celebrating mother’s day, schools and community teams, as well as media personalities and celebrities. This event has also attracted some major sponsors, many being finance and superannuation industries, including ME Bank. The organisation have many volunteers, however it is in continual need of sponsors and supporters to assist in making their dream come true – the cure for breast cancer.
