The Longest Lunch

Traditionally the first event to begin the Port Douglas Carnivale each year, this three course lakeside dining extravaganza will impress the unimpressible. A perfect occasion to socialise with other ‘long lunch lovers’ including a list of VIP guests; last year television and radio presenter ‘Ed Phillips’ and several Taipans players were amongst the diners. A visit from a few of the locals from the neighbouring Wildlife Habitat is sure to keep things interesting…..

Where: Sheraton Mirage Country Club, Port Douglas Road, Port Douglas

When: Friday 16th May 2014 from 11.30am till 3.30pm

Cost: $175 per person inc GST all inclusive entertainment, cuisine and all beverages

Chandon Lunch presented by Zinc Restaurant, Port Douglas

An afternoon of exquisite cuisine and wines, join a four course degustation lunch at Zinc restaurant Port Douglas in conjunction with Moet Hennessy. Enjoy an accompaniment of wines from Australia’s premium wine producer ‘Domaine Chandon’, and French champagne on arrival by Veuve Clicquot. The Chandon Lunch is an ever-popular dining event that will be celebrating its 10year anniversary this year.

Palates of Port

The fifth year running ‘Palates of Port’ will be embracing the ‘Bollywood’ theme with splashes of bright colours and lights across the Sugar Wharf Terminal. This eight course degustation stars the talents of local Chefs from restaurants and catering companies in Port Douglas. Each separate meal will be matched to the perfect accompaniment of wines.

Chefs from the following restaurants will be providing you with delectable delights that will make your toes curl throughout the night:

  • Port Douglas Catering and Events
  • Salsa Bar and Grill
  • Harrisons Restaurant
  • Zai Restaurant
  • ThalaBeach Lodge
  • Sheraton Mirage
  • Nautilus Restaurant

Live entertainment and a DJ will get those hips a swinging onto the dance floor where you can master your Bollywood moves.

Taste of Port Douglas

Bring along your appetites and ensure you’re thirsty as this year’s ‘Taste of Port’ is definitely going to satisfy! Over twenty five individual local producers and suppliers will be serving Far North Queensland’s top produce, including local beers and wines which can be enjoyed on the Sugar Wharf Deck or over at the newest addition the ‘Taste Bar’. Celebrity guest chefs will be entertaining the audience with live demonstrations of some of their best recipes; this year’s VIP chefs are Colin Fassnidge (My Kitchen Rules Judge, chef & restaurateur), Massimo Mele (TV personality, chef, business owner, ex Hugo’s Sydney) and Ian Curley (The European group of restaurants, Melbourne). Local culinary miracle workers will also be on show, so look out for Nick Holloway (Nu Nu, Palm Cove), Tony Sassi (Sassi Cucina e Bar) and Todd Malone (Malone’s Butchery) on stage.

When: Saturday 24th May 2014, doors open at 9.30am till 4pm.

Food and Wine Concert

Continue the food affair into the night. The Food and Wine festival presents local and national musical artists to entertain the crowds in the open air event that pleases each year, food and drink stalls with the regions finest will be available throughout the night. Last year Daryl Braithwaite rocked the socks of the party goers! This years headlining act at the Port Douglas Carnivale is the world famous Aussies Screaming Jets!!

When: Saturday the 24th of May 2014, 5.30pm – 11pm

Cost: $68.50 per person

 

Seafood Extravaganza Meridian Marina Port Douglas

As a foodies finale to the week the ‘Seafood Extravaganza’ certainly hits the spot. Appropriately located on the marina, with a live band and food stalls lining the boardwalk it’s the perfect atmosphere to indulge in the ‘fruits of sea’.  It’s a great way to recover from the Food and Wine Festival’s shenanigans and a perfect day for families and visitors to the town who can also peruse the Sunday Markets next door.

Where: Meridian Marina Boardwalk, Wharf Street, Port Douglas.

When: Sunday 25th May 2014 from 10am onwards.

Cost: Free entry
