Valentine’s Day – A Day For Lovers – 14th February 2014
Posted on January 15, 2014 by Sophie Tabouel
In thirty days’ time the flower growers will be sleeping in as they have done their job to grow and ship beautiful flowers all over Australia for February 14th St Valentine’s Day.
As for the florists, they will not have had too much sleep the days leading up to Valentine’s Day. On this special day their couriers will be run off their feet from the early hours of the morning to the evening delivering flowers and gifts to girls and guys all over their region.
Valentine’s Day is, as some would say, just another American idea that is very over commercialised. This might very well be true, however it is still a very good idea to drive some business in what is usually a very quiet month in business; everyone has just come back to work a few weeks earlier after a Christmas break. So Valentine’s Day is a great way to drive some more dollars thru businesses tills.
Over the years, I have personally been the recipient of Valentine’s Day flowers from my partner and so has our young daughter ever since she was in kindy. To this day, she is now 13 years old, she still loves to receive flowers from her daddy at school. We almost always go out together for a Valentines dinner as we all see it as a ‘family day’ and an opportunity to remind each other that we all love each other, not only on this day but all year round.

Surprise Your Valentine
Some couples use Valentine’s Day to ask someone out, to surprise their Valentine by letting them know how they feel and how they would like to take them out on a date, or… some kind people just send flowers to someone to make them feel special even if they are not interested in them but just love them as good friends.
Valentine’s Day is a fun day, radio stations and the media get all sorts of fun promotions happening as do the restaurants and hotels.
Need Help With a Valentine’s Day Idea in Cairns?
Most Cairns, Port Douglas, and Cairns Beaches hotels & resorts that have restaurants normally put on a special menu for the occasion. Most again, will have romantic tables for two set up with a little bit of music as backing, flowers and decorations all around the restaurant. They will even have an accommodation offer to compliment the evening with extras such as flower petals over the bed, strawberries dipped in white & milk chocolate and a bottle of bubbles. Some resorts and hotels with rooms with spa tubs even set up the bathroom with lovely accompaniments such as scented candles to give the room a delightful ambience and set the mood for romance.

Another great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day and maybe a marriage proposal, is to take your loved one on a surprise Hot Air Balloon ride over the Atherton Tablelands OR on a private beach horse ride topped off with a picnic and a bottle of bubbles OR as a really big surprise, take your partner for a bungy jump and ask them to marry you just as you dive off the platform.
